ABIDJAN - COTE D'IVOIRE

The Embassy of India in cooperation with M/s King Ivoire, an Indian company in Abidjan donated sports accessories (Footballs, Jerseys, Stockings and Football Boots) to a local Football club in response to their request. On 1 August 2022, in a letter addressed to the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Côte d'Ivoire, Allianz soccer club of Treichville submitted a request for assistance in sports accessories.

Allianz soccer club of Treichville is a mixed soccer sports association - playing in the 2nd Division of the national championship in Côte d'Ivoire - born from a project of social integration of young people through sports. The primary mission of the club is to promote sport as a profession for the benefit of young people. However, the realization of this mission faces several challenges, including the lack of sports equipment.

In this regard, sensitive to social issues affecting the community in general, and women and youth in particular, His Excellency Sailas Thangal approached prominent businessmen and members of the Indian community in Côte d'Ivoire, among whom Mr. Nitesh Gupta Proprietor & Director of King Ivoire, came forward.

Mr. Nitesh Gupta is the Director of King Ivoire, which specializes in the manufacture and distribution of steel and other metallurgical products in Côte d'Ivoire and the West African sub-region. He is also one of the founding members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India in Côte d'Ivoire (ICCI-CI) King Ivoire is totally committed to its Corporate Social responsibilities and has been contributing to various social projects and assistance to local communities. Thus, today's donation ceremony may be a small and symbolic but of great importance for channelizing the youth into sports for developing their skill.

The President on behalf of the Allianz soccer club said that, this donation comes at the right time and constitutes a real breath of fresh air for the club. Adding that they will be able to start practicing for the national championship, scheduled for September 2022. The President of the Allianz Football Club on behalf of the Management, the Technical Staff and the players expressed his warm and sincere thanks to King Ivoire for their generosity which he said will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the achievement of their objectives.

He also thanked the Embassy of India who served as a bridge to the realization of this donation.
