The Embassy of India in collaboration with Cote d’Ivoire Chamber of Commerce and Indian Chamber of Commerce in Cote d’Ivoire organized ‘First India-Cote d’Ivoire Health Care Seminar: Towards Healthy Cooperation’, at the Chamber of Commerce premises Abidjan on 03 March 2020, as part of the two day “India Day” event on 2-3 March 2020.
The seminar was inaugurated and addressed by HE Dr Eugène Aka-Aouélé, Minister of Health and Public Hygiene. The session received an overwhelming response and was well attended by representatives from various pharma companies, doctors, health care specialists, officials from the Ministry of Health of Cote d’Ivoire and hospital chains including the Vice President of Apollo Hospitals and International Marketing Head of Wockhardt Hospitals group who travelled from India only to participate in the session.
Cote d’Ivoire has a presence of almost all the major Indian Pharma companies and occupies a lion share of the local pharma market. The number of Ivorian people going to India for medical treatment are also on the rise in recent years.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador of India YK Sailas Thangal highlighted the highly developed pharma sector as well as the super specialities chain of hospitals providing world class health care services at the affordable cost and without any waiting time. Ambassador Thangal urged the Indian health enterprises to consider partnering with Cote d’Ivoire health enterprises as it offered various opportunities for both sides for win-win cooperation.
Ambassador also spoke about the readiness of the Government of India to share its experience and cooperate with Cote d’Ivoire in developing its Health sector. This regard he mentioned the newly launched e-VBAB tele-medicine program which is to commence shortly at the Cocody University Hospital (CHU). Talking about cooperation in building healthier nation Ambassador said that the two government are cooperating to build four Hospitals under LOC in Korhogo, Bouake, Daloa and Abidjan. Ambassador urged the Ivorian Health sector enterprises to take advantage of the Indian experience and encouraged them to partner with Indian enterprises.
Delivering his keynote address Minister of Health and Public Hygiene HE Dr Eugène Aka-Aouélé spoke about various initiatives the government of Cote d’Ivoire was taking to develop the health sector in Cote d’Ivoire. Minister Aka appreciated the much-developed health and pharma sector in India and welcomed the idea of Ivorian enterprises partnering with Indian enterprises in Health sector. He urged Indian enterprises to not only look at Cote d’Ivoire as a market for export but also for investment and technology transfer in health sector.
A detailed presentation was made by Apollo Hospitals and Wockhardt Hospitals Group about various end to end Medical services offered by them and their activities in West African region. The presentations were followed by B2B & B2G interactions.
