Kedarnath area was struck by a major calamity in 2013 which caused large scale destruction of property and infrastructure in parts of Uttarakhand, including shrine of Kedarnath and massive loss of human life.
2. Honorable Prime Minister directed the local government to take steps for reconstruction of Kedarnath area and also suggested that the efforts be made to help develop Kedarnath on the principle of ‘Smart Township’. The state Government of Uttarakhand has endeavored to restore the shine and the surrounding area to its goal, the State Government has now constituted ‘Shri Kedarnath Charitable Trust’ to seek funds for Shri Kedarnath Dham reconstruction works.
3. Members of Indian diaspora in Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia and Guinee are requested to contribute to the noble cause, though the Kedarnath Charitable Trust, specially created for the purpose by the state Government.
